About Lula Cafe Catering

On September 2, 1999, Lula Cafe opened in a small storefront on Kedzie Boulevard with a four-burner home stove and a dented collection of thrifted pots and pans.

Lula Cafe brings our award-winning artisanal cooking to your table for your wedding celebration.

From intimate gatherings to groups of 250 or more guests, our chefs, led by chef/owner, Jason Hammel, will craft a spectacular feast for you and your loved ones from the bounty of our local growers and 20 years of creative menus in our signature style.

We tailor each wedding to complement your needs — with options for family-style dinners, plated meals, buffet, or heavy passed appetizers.

Our services include professional, restaurant-style service; wine pairing recommendations and custom cocktail menus. We coordinate and arrange for all of your needed china, glassware, linens, and furnishings, and can provide additional assistance with venue and vendor referrals, floor plans, and decor.

How We Stay Sustainable:

  • We source produce from our close network of local farms in all our catering and restaurant menus

  • We work with Urban Canopy to compost all food scraps and paper goods

  • Our disposables and to-go containers are all compostable

  • We use artisan, small batch, organic agricultural products from around the globe

  • We source antibiotic-free naturally raised meats as well as sustainable seafood

    • We actively recycle at the restaurant and offsite events

    • Our culinary team and bar program cross utilizes ingredients to reduce waste

    • We focus on using sustainable and biodynamic liquor and wine producers in our beverage program

    • We have phased out the use of all plastic straws and provide paper or hay straws as an alternative

    • We donate 150 meals a week to Community Dinners Avondale
