This volunteer-run group was founded in 2011 and has been integral in the community-focused environmental changes here in Chicago, in an industry that historically has been difficult to be sustainable; parties! This challenge was driven by the curiosity and passion that there were other industry professionals out there who already were or sought to make their business practices a bit easier on the earth, and party people who wanted that exact service without all the headache. Formerly the Green Wedding Alliance, now the Sustainable Events Collective, has grown by so many volunteer members in every aspect of the wedding/event industry with folks rising to this very challenge impacting hundreds of sustainable events a year.
